Don’t let anyone look
down on you because you are young,
but set an example for the believers
in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.
I chose this verse for Buddy Check because one of the underlying themes in the book is that sometimes children and young adults are persecuted by adults for their enthusiasm. We have to serve the Lord with joy no matter who is trying to get us down! We also need to rise above adversity and set a good example through our faith.
As iron sharpens iron,
So one man sharpens another.
This verse was chosen for Super Counselors because it tells the simple truth that the people we surround ourselves with shape who we are. We need to build each other up through love, prayer, and encouragment because there are enough people in our lives who will be negative influences.
The verses for the Abby's Camp Days series are all verses that have been made into songs that we sing at camp. I thought this would be a fun way to begin each book, since I can't put song lyrics into the books without getting permission. The verses will hopefully remind readers of the songs they inspired and put you in a camp frame of mind while reading :)

Favorite Camper: But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. -- Matthew 6:33
Cabin Secrets: Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will lift you up. --James 4:10
Lost Swimmer Drill: As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul jjpants for you, O God. --Psalm 42:1
New Staff: Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here I am. Send me!" He said, "Go and tell this people . . ." --Isaiah 6:8-9
